WorldSkills UK
The Challenge
At the WorldSkills UK National Finals, access is tight. You’re often shooting from behind barriers, competitors are fully focused, and there’s no stopping, no directing, no second takes.
It means the images can easily feel observational, like you’re watching it happen rather than actually in it, and that’s where they start to lose impact. When those images are being used as core marketing assets, that impact really matters.
The Approach
Working closely with the marketing team, we got clear on what mattered before the events. Which competitions to prioritise, what was missing from the existing library, and what had worked in the past. So on the shoot days, it wasn’t reactive. It was intentional.
On the ground, it was about closing that distance without crossing any lines. Anticipating moments, positioning carefully, and using framing and timing to pull the viewer into what was happening.
The aim was simple, to move away from watching from the sidelines and create something that felt immersive.
The Shift
The shift in style was significant. The imagery moved from simply "recording the day" to creating high-impact commercial marketing assets.
At Kins Photographic, we understand that event imagery must serve multiple purposes. We delivered a suite of content specifically designed for:
- Partnership and Sponsorship proposals
- Event PR and national press releases
- Recruitment campaigns and social media engagement
- Wider corporate communications
The Outcome
WorldSkills UK now possesses a comprehensive digital asset library that accurately reflects the ambition and intensity of their national competitions.
These images do more than show what happened; they communicate the feeling of being part of the event. This emotional connection is vital for engaging future competitors, educational partners, and stakeholders.
Whether we are shooting in London, the South East, or across the UK, our goal remains the same: to provide businesses with visuals that work as hard as they do.
